#storiesandstewardship Cleanup at Giant Rock, October 6th

Clean-Up #4!

In an effort to keep the Giant Rock area pristine the BLM Barstow office suggested a Giant Rock Community Clean-Up to celebrate National Public Lands Day , in partnership with Karyl Newman and Blight Sites, the Mojave Desert Land Trust, the Landers Community Association and the Hi-Desert Nature Museum.

Sign up in advance here or the day of at Giant Rock. We will be working from 8 AM – Noon on Saturday, October 6th.

We will have water, the fantastic tool-trailer (through feel free to bring your own), safety and conservation information and complimentary NPLD t-shirts for all volunteers!

The event is part of the programming for a California Humanities Grant received last December, Our Giant Rock: a Community Touchstone in the Mojave. Karyl Newman (project director) will share her research in a digital exhibit.

The event includes stories and research by grant collaborators, our Forensic expert Mike Digby, a retired bomb squad detective from Los Angeles and Daniel McCarthy, Anthropologist and Director of the Cultural Resources Management Department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Both will be available at the site for information and questions.

Join us for #storiesandstewardship at Giant Rock. We hope to see you and all meet other volunteers that love their public lands.
